building in East Street housing the town’s original
fire engine (or hand drawn pump, leather buckets and short ladder as it
should be known) local pottery and ironwork plus much more about local
life. The medieval building THE
YPRES TOWER a
former dwelling,
prison and mortuary offers the best views of the vast harbour that once
was.
St. Mary's Church guardian of the
town
since the 12th century. Large
and interesting with many unusual features, not least the clock one of
the
oldest church time pieces in the country with "Quarter Boys" and long
pendulum.
